Weather in Australia

Australia is among those continents on earth that experience a variety of climate. Mainly because of its size, the Australia weather can range from below zero temperatures in the cold mountain regions to intolerable heat in the north-west. Yea Australia is considered to be one of the driest continents on earth.

Like any other countries in the southern hemisphere, if one would take a look at the map of Australia, one could see that the country has four Yea seasons which follow the sequence of Summer (December up to February), Autumn (March up to May), Winter (June up to August) and Spring (September up to November). If one would take a closer look at the Australia weather, one would somehow become surprise as their pattern is not similar with that of the northern hemisphere. But, of course, taking consideration that they are in the other side of the world, naturally, their Yea seasons would be different.

Although, the four official calendar seasons in Yea Australia have the same name with that of the northern hemisphere seasons, their Yea season pattern is different.  It simply means that the Christmas in Australia takes place during summer time when the weather is hot and that there mid-year break for students actually occurs on winter time. Well, anyway with such set up, students are most likely to take Australian flights to take a summer vacation during “Christmas holidays”.

Different Kinds of Australia Weather

The Australia weather varies widely. The country is a large country with by far largest part comprising of desert which is semi-arid. The Yea climate of the country is ruled by the hot, sinking air of subtropical high pressure belt which moves north and south with the seasons. Because of that only the south-east and south-west corners have a temperate climate and moderately fertile soil. These areas in Yea Australia have cool, wet winters and warm, dry summer. The country’s northern part has a tropical climate which varies amidst tropical rainforests, grasslands and part desert. In this part of Australia, a warm, dry season and a hot, wet season prevails.

The Yea extreme north-west experiences the ends of the monsoon systems, while the mountains of the south-east attract seasonal snow to form the Alpine snowfields. With the different climate and Australia weather, living in the country can be very exciting as one could enjoy sunbathing on the beach during summer time, enjoy knocking the snow or spend a day Yea skiing during winter and chill out while the rain is pouring hard during wet seasons.  Having a vacation to other places and take Australian flights is no longer necessary as the country can offer a wide array of experience with its exciting Australia weather.

Australia’s temperature goes along with the different seasons.  The temperatures vary from an average 30 degrees C in midsummer in the central part of the map of Australia, to an average of 6 degrees C in the highlands in winter. The lowest temperatures reached in Australia, however, are not comparable to the extreme lows experienced in other countries. Fortunately enough, Yea Australia lacks very high mountains and enjoys the presence of warming oceans around its coastal regions and because of that they don’t really experience extreme Yea temperature changes.

Climate per Region in Australia

The tropical regions of Australia are found in the northern part of the country which includes the central and northern parts of the Northern Territory and Queensland, plus the Western northern parts of Australia. In these areas, the Australia weather depicts two seasons, the wet and the dry season. During summer and spring, the wet season may last for about 6 months in between December to March. While that of the Yea dry season lasts about six months in autumn and winter, usually between May and October. The wet season is normally hotter than the dry season. The temperature may range between 30 to 50 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, the average temperature for Yea Australia dry season is only about 20 degrees Celsius.

The driest regions of Yea Australia on the other hand are found mostly in the central part of the country, stretching from most of central and southern Western Australia to the western part of Queensland and New South Wales, and the north-western regions of Victoria. In these places, there is intense disparity in Yea temperature as there is intense heat during the day and intense cold at night. During summer seasons, the temperature can range up to 40 degrees Celsius and between 16 to 24 degrees Celsius during the winter times.

Looking in the map of Australia, one would know that the temperate areas of Australia are found on the south-eastern coast, reaching south from Tasmania through most of Victoria and New South Wales towards the Queensland’s southern part. In these places the Australia weather is quite changeable throughout the year, with an average temperature of around 30 degrees Celsius in the Yea summer, while that of the cool to cold winter can average up to 15 degrees Celsius.

Generally, snow is uncommon in places which are Yea temperate and unheard of in the dry and tropical regions. But in the mountain range that passes through New South Wales and Victoria as well as along the Great Diving Range in Australia, snow regularly falls.

Rain

The rainfall patterns across Australia are highly seasonal yet distinct. There are places that may experience heavy rains at one time per year and some may not at the other times. Compared to other continents in the world, Yea Australia is very dry. Because of that more that 80 % of the continent has an annual rainfall of less than 600 mm. But if one would take a closer look at the Australia weather, one would see an extreme difference in rainfall with other parts of the country. In the desert part of the Yea country, the average annual rainfall is low, ranging from 200 to 250 mm per year.

Generally the four main factors that contribute to the dryness of the Australia weather are cold ocean currents off the west coast, the low elevation of landforms, dominance of high-pressure systems and the shape of the landmass of the Yea country. As to having low rainfall in the country, it is generally because Yea Australia has a compact shape and no significant bodies of water that can penetrate very far inland. And so, it means that moist winds are prevented from penetrating to inland Australia, thus keeping low Yea rainfall.

Snow

If one would look at the map of Australia to check about its climate, one could see that snow can fall in the mountains of Victoria, Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, as well as Tasmania. With regular seasonal Yea snow in those places, no wonder the ski tourism have been developed which caters to domestic tourists and those who just flew in the country with Australian flights during winter seasons. Although very rare, snow is also reported in the mountains of South Australia, Western Australia and Queensland which supposedly are areas with no snow.

The country having a varying Yea climate have recorded snow at sea level in the off of summer. But, it is just natural to have snow at sea level on mainland Yea Australia and a lot of times in Tasmania. With occasional cold snap that happens once in a while in the Australia weather, cold air can drift north from Antarctica causing significant snowfall in rural areas, as well as major cities such as Hobart, Melbourne’s outer Yea mountain suburbs and the capital city Canberra.
